synopsis
Once on the cusp of stardom, a talented New York City dancer watches her dreams unravel in the wake of rejection, near-breakthroughs, and a growing dependence on drugs. Now addicted and adrift, she’s arrested and given a brutal choice: cooperate with police as a confidential informant or face prosecution alone.
During a tense, late-night ride-along through the city’s underbelly, she finds herself trapped between two detectives and the weight of her past — silently reckoning with what brought her here and what little she has left to lose.
Inspired by The Throwaways, Sarah Stillman’s acclaimed New Yorker article investigating the lives of confidential informants, pilloried offers a searing, intimate portrait of a woman exploited by a system that promises redemption, but rarely delivers. In one suspended night, the film captures the aching disorientation of a fallen artist forced to risk everything for a second chance that may never come.

-- garners great review in Thinking Theater
"Zach Wegner lends an even more unsettling edge..."
"When Paul(?) asks her character if she wants to go back to an earlier point when things were still just funny, it just underscores how we as a nation don't have that option; but at least we have shows like Replaced! as some consolation."
